After the four-disc experiment Zaireeka, The Flaming Lips traded guitar noise for strings, timpani and stacked vocal parts. The album originally came out in 1999, recorded with producer Dave Fridmann, and deals with illness, mortality and carrying on. Race For The Prize sketches two scientists sacrificing themselves, Waitin' For A Superman asks what you do when the rescue never arrives. Pitchfork gave the album a 10 and placed it at number 10 in its list of the best albums of the nineties. This edition is a 2-LP.
