Entr'acte, originally released in November 1974, is a concept album: together the songs describe a single night with a married man, from the meeting to the morning after. Jean-Pierre Castelain wrote and arranged the opening section, with Del Newman and Hughes de Courson handling the rest; behind Hardy's voice sit guitar figures, strings, and synthesisers. Tracks such as Ce soir, Chanson noire, and Fin d'après-midi are among the bleakest she recorded. The album sold poorly at the time and went unnoticed for years; MOJO writer Andrew Male now places it at number 4 in his ranking of her albums.
