When guitarist Steve Hackett left in 1977, Genesis carried on as a trio, and the album title says exactly that. Tony Banks filled the space with more keyboards, Mike Rutherford took on the guitar parts, and the long suites gave way to shorter songs such as Down And Out, Burning Rope, and Many Too Many. The closing Follow You Follow Me became the band's first real hit single and opened the door to the audience Genesis would reach in the eighties. ...And Then There Were Three... originally came out in 1978.
