A week before Live Through This reached the shops, Kurt Cobain died, and the attention that followed clung to Hole's second studio album for years. The music itself mostly shows how Courtney Love and Eric Erlandson traded the raw edge of their debut for shorter, biting songs with choruses that stick: "Violet", "Miss World", "Doll Parts" and "Softer, Softest". The album originally appeared in April 1994 on DGC Records. Rolling Stone placed it at number 106 in the 2020 version of The 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.
