Noise, feedback and Courtney Love screaming: Hole's debut is the loudest album in the band's catalogue, far from the tighter songs that broke them through in 1994. Kim Gordon of Sonic Youth and Don Fleming of Gumball recorded it in March 1991 at Music Box Studios in Hollywood and left the raw edges in. Its only single, "Teenage Whore", entered the UK indie chart at number one. Pretty on the Inside originally appeared on Caroline Records, two years after Love and Eric Erlandson started the band in Los Angeles.
