The Idiot originally appeared in March 1977 and was Iggy Pop's first solo album, the first of the two records he made with David Bowie that year. Bowie co-wrote, produced and played much of the instrumentation; the sessions took place at Château d'Hérouville near Paris, in Munich and in Berlin. The album sounds slower and colder than his work with The Stooges: mechanical drums, heavy bass, synthesizers and Pop's voice buried low in the mix. "China Girl" got a second life six years later in Bowie's own hit version, while "Nightclubbing", "Sister Midnight" and "Funtime" stayed in his live repertoire for good. The sound went on to shape much of the post-punk and new wave that followed. This edition is an LP.
