Kick became the biggest album INXS made. Chris Thomas produced the sixth studio album, originally released on 12 October 1987, and it delivered four US top 10 singles: "Need You Tonight" went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100, followed by "Devil Inside", "New Sensation", and "Never Tear Us Apart". The album itself reached number 3 on the Billboard 200 and was certified six times platinum by the RIAA. The sound turns on the stripped-back funk guitar of "Need You Tonight", Kirk Pengilly's saxophone, and the strings under "Never Tear Us Apart", with "Mystify" and the title track alongside them.
