The Raiders March opens with a fanfare that has been inseparable from Indiana Jones ever since. John Williams wrote the music for Steven Spielberg's first Indiana Jones film, originally released in 1981 on Columbia Records, giving the adventure a sound rooted in the Hollywood action pictures of the 1930s and 1940s. Alongside the march, Marion's Theme and the long chase cues The Map Room: Dawn and Desert Chase carry the album, recorded in early 1981 at Abbey Road Studios. The score earned Williams an Academy Award nomination and won a Grammy for best film score album.
This edition is a 2-LP on gold vinyl, issued as a 45th anniversary edition.
