Erotica was Madonna's fifth studio album, released in 1992 as the first record on her own label Maverick, alongside the photo book Sex. It was written and produced with Shep Pettibone and moved between house, R&B and downtempo. Madonna presented herself on the album through the alter ego Mistress Dita, named after actress Dita Parlo. Singles such as Erotica, Deeper and Deeper, Rain and Bad Girl formed the core of the album. Beyond sexuality, Erotica also dealt with themes of loss and the AIDS crisis, notably in the song In This Life. The album reached number two on the Billboard 200. This release is a 2-LP on black vinyl.
