The Rarities gathers recordings from thirty years of Mariah Carey that had not been released before: demos, shelved album tracks, and alternative versions from the period 1990 to 2020, among them Out Here on My Own, Cool On You, and the then-new Save the Day with Lauryn Hill. The collection originally appeared in 2020, alongside her memoir The Meaning of Mariah Carey. Its second half is a complete recording of her 1996 concert at the Tokyo Dome.
