Kill 'Em All originally came out in 1983 on the small Megaforce label as Metallica's debut. Ten high-speed tracks, recorded in Rochester, New York, shortly after guitarist Dave Mustaine's departure; Kirk Hammett took his place, while Mustaine kept co-writing credits on four songs. Hit the Lights, The Four Horsemen, Whiplash and Seek & Destroy laid the groundwork for American thrash metal, and (Anesthesia)-Pulling Teeth gave Cliff Burton a full bass solo.
