On Puberty 2 Mitski sets drum machines against distorted guitars. Opener 'Happy' runs a saxophone over a steady drum machine, and 'Your Best American Girl' starts quietly before it swells into a wall of guitars. Her fourth album originally came out in 2016 and was her first for Dead Oceans. The lyrics deal with longing, depression, alienation, and cultural identity. Metacritic scored it 87 out of 100 from 22 reviews.
