Seven songs, largely acoustic, recorded at Shangri-La in Malibu with Lou Adler producing: Second Song is Neil Young's fiftieth studio album and his second with the Chrome Hearts, after Talkin to the Trees. The title track runs over eleven minutes and went out first as a single; Rolling Stone writer Andy Greene described it as a song about 'the passage of time and the need for human connection'. Two of the songs Young wrote back in the 1960s and then set aside: 'Casting Me Away From You' and 'I'll Love You Forever' can be heard here for the first time. The band is Anthony LoGerfo on drums, Corey McCormick on bass, Micah Nelson on guitar and Spooner Oldham on organ and piano. Second Song is released by Reprise Records, the label that holds most of Young's catalogue.
