Heartbeats, cash registers, ticking clocks and laughter: The Dark Side of the Moon puts its tape collages right at the start and then runs on as one continuous piece about time, money, fear and madness. The album was recorded at EMI Studios on Abbey Road between May 1972 and February 1973, with Alan Parsons engineering. Session singer Clare Torry walked into the studio with no lyrics and no melody and improvised the wordless vocal on 'The Great Gig in the Sky' on the spot. 'Money', 'Time' and 'Us and Them' became the songs that carried the album onto the radio. According to Billboard the album held a place on the Billboard 200 for more than nine hundred weeks. The original album came out in 1973. This edition is a CD, the remaster from the fiftieth anniversary edition.
