Come On Pilgrim was originally released in 1987 as the first Pixies release: an eight-track mini-album that 4AD assembled from the seventeen demos the band recorded that March at Fort Apache studio in Boston, with Gary Smith producing. Fans know that session as the Purple Tape. Black Francis sings in English and Spanish by turns, most clearly on Isla de Encanta and Vamos, and Caribou and Nimrod's Son already carry the quiet-loud dynamic the band would later be known for.
