After the success of Purple Rain, Prince changed direction with Around the World in a Day. Originally released in 1985 and the second album credited to Prince and The Revolution, it trades the rock guitars of its predecessor for psychedelic pop, acoustic instruments, and Eastern textures. "Raspberry Beret", "Pop Life", and "Paisley Park" became the best-known tracks; Prince later named his studio complex in Chanhassen after that last title. The album arrived with no advance single and little promotion, and still reached number 1 on the US Billboard 200. This edition is a 2-CD set.
