Batman is a soundtrack album by American artist Prince, originally released in 1989 to accompany director Tim Burton's film of the same name. Prince wrote all the songs himself and incorporated dialogue fragments from the film into the music; the tracks are loosely tied to characters such as Batman, The Joker and Vicki Vale. The single 'Batdance' became a number 1 hit in the United States; 'Partyman' and the duet with Sheena Easton, 'The Arms of Orion', were also released as singles. The album spent six weeks at number one on the Billboard 200. For Prince it marked a major commercial resurgence at the end of the 1980s.
