Dirty Mind is the third studio album by Prince, released in 1980. Prince wrote, produced and played almost all of it himself, moving away from his early disco sound toward a raw, minimalist blend of funk, new wave and synth-pop. Its lyrics are openly sexual and provocative, with tracks such as 'Uptown', 'Head' and 'When You Were Mine'. The album marked an important step in the development of his distinctive style and artistic independence.
