For You is Prince's debut album, originally released in 1978, when he was nineteen. The sleeve carried the credit that would define his career: produced, arranged, composed and performed by Prince, who played every instrument himself. The nine songs sit close to the disco and soul of the moment, with stacked harmony vocals and plenty of falsetto. 'Soft & Wet' was the first single and reached the American R&B chart; 'I'm Yours' already carries the guitar playing he would later be known for.
