The Best of Roxy Music is the compilation that coincided with the band's 2001 reunion, and it is deliberately sequenced in reverse: it opens with Avalon and More Than This from 1982 and ends with Virginia Plain and Re-Make/Re-Model from 1972. In between lie the hits of both eras, from Jealous Guy, Oh Yeah, Angel Eyes, and Dance Away to Love Is the Drug, Mother of Pearl, Street Life, and Do the Strand. Across eighteen tracks you hear Roxy Music walk back from the polished pop of the eighties to the rawer art rock of the beginning. The compilation originally appeared on CD and cassette only; the vinyl version arrived in 2022, half-speed mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road Studios. This edition is a 2-LP on 180-gram vinyl in a gatefold sleeve.
