On Abraxas, originally released in 1970, the Santana formula is at its clearest: Latin percussion, an organ carrying the chords, and above it the sustained guitar tone of Carlos Santana. The album opens with the sparse mood piece Singing Winds, Crying Beasts and moves into Black Magic Woman, a Peter Green song joined here to Gábor Szabó's Gypsy Queen. Oye Como Va comes from Tito Puente, and Samba Pa Ti was written by Carlos Santana himself. The album reached number one on the US album chart. This edition is an LP.
