The self-titled debut album by The Doors was originally released in 1967 on Elektra Records. Opener 'Break On Through (To the Other Side)' and 'Light My Fire', carried by Ray Manzarek's Vox organ, set out the band's distinctive blend of blues rock, psychedelia and cabaret beneath Jim Morrison's incantatory vocals. 'Light My Fire' became a US number one. The album closes with 'The End', an eleven-minute oedipal suite that lays bare the band's theatrical streak. Producer Paul A. Rothchild and engineer Bruce Botnick recorded it at Sunset Sound Studios in Los Angeles.
