The Beauty in Black was the first CD single by the Swedish metal band Therion, recorded in 1994 and released in 1995. The title track marked the band's transition from its early death metal to the symphonic style, enriched with choirs and orchestration, for which it would later become known. The four songs combined heavy guitars with synthesizers and ambient-like passages. Composer and band leader Christofer Johnsson produced the recording himself. The single stood as an early step towards the symphonic metal sound that Therion would develop in the following years.
