With Achtung Baby, U2 radically reinvented themselves. Large parts of the album were recorded in Berlin, shortly after the fall of the Wall, and the band traded the earthy rock of The Joshua Tree for electronics, industrial textures and irony. The Fly announced that break as the first single, while One grew into one of the band's most beloved songs. Mysterious Ways also became a major hit. The album was originally released in 1991.
