U2

U2 grew out of Dublin's punk scene to become one of the biggest rock bands in the world. Built around singer Bono and the chiming, echo-laden guitar of The Edge, the band developed a huge, anthemic sound, from the post-punk debut Boy to the worldwide success of The Joshua Tree. With Achtung Baby they reinvented themselves in the early nineties with electronics and irony, later returning to direct rock songs on All That You Can't Leave Behind. Beyond the music, U2 is known for Bono's activism and their vast stadium shows.
