Boy was U2's debut album, originally released in 1980 and produced by Steve Lillywhite. It appeared during the post-punk era. The Edge's chiming guitar and Bono's driven vocals defined its sound. The lyrics dealt with adolescence and the loss of innocence, themes echoed by the album's cover portrait of a young boy. I Will Follow remained a fixture of the band's live shows for decades. A Day Without Me and Out of Control also came from the album.
