Zooropa took shape in the middle of the Zoo TV tour, when U2 slipped into the studio between shows. What began as an EP grew into a full album, experimental and heavily electronic in character. Numb, with a deadpan lead vocal by The Edge, and the dance-influenced Lemon are among its most striking tracks. Stay (Faraway, So Close!) offered a restrained ballad by contrast. The album was originally released in 1993 and won a Grammy for Best Alternative Music Album.
