Permanent Vacation, the ninth studio album by Aerosmith, originally dates from 1987. The album marked the band's commercial comeback and was the first studio recording Steven Tyler and Joe Perry made after overcoming their addiction problems. For the first time, the band worked structurally with outside songwriters, including Desmond Child, Jim Vallance and Holly Knight. Production was handled by Bruce Fairbairn at the Little Mountain Sound studio in Vancouver. Hit singles such as Dude (Looks Like a Lady), Angel and Rag Doll brought the band back into the spotlight, alongside a cover of I'm Down by The Beatles. The album went multi-platinum in the United States.
