Bob Dylan's Greatest Hits Vol. II originally appeared in 1971 as a double album, spanning Dylan's electric and country years, from 'Like a Rolling Stone' and 'Maggie's Farm' to 'Lay Lady Lay' and 'I'll Be Your Baby Tonight'. It is more than an ordinary collection: Dylan recorded a handful of then-unreleased songs for it, including 'When I Paint My Masterpiece', 'I Shall Be Released' and 'Tomorrow Is a Long Time', which long kept the compilation essential even for the initiated.
