Bob Dylan

Bob Dylan brought poetry into popular music. From his folk beginnings in Greenwich Village he wrote protest anthems like 'Blowin' in the Wind' and 'The Times They Are a-Changin'', stunned the folk crowd by going electric in 1965 on Bringing It All Back Home and Highway 61 Revisited, and kept reinventing himself: from the country of Nashville Skyline and the break-up record Blood on the Tracks to his gospel period and the late Rough and Rowdy Ways from 2020. In 2016 he became the first songwriter to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature.
