Mötley Crüe's debut originally appeared in 1981 on the band's own Leathür Records, in a first run of 900 copies. After Elektra signed them a year later, Too Fast for Love was partly re-recorded and remixed by Roy Thomas Baker; that version had a different running order and dropped "Stick to Your Guns". Musically the album still sits close to punk and early glam: short songs, few studio layers and the pace of "Live Wire" and "Piece of Your Action". The title track and "Public Enemy #1" show how the band sounded before the big arena productions arrived.
