Charli XCX

Charli XCX, born Charlotte Aitchison, started out as a teenager posting home-made tracks on MySpace and playing London rave nights, and went on to become one of the most influential pop writers of her generation. She co-wrote and sang on Icona Pop's I Love It and scored a worldwide hit of her own with Boom Clap, then deliberately pushed towards the edge of the mainstream: on the mixtapes Number 1 Angel and Pop 2 she built a harder, futuristic kind of pop with A. G. Cook and the PC Music collective. Crash gave her a first UK number one album in 2022, and Brat became a cultural phenomenon in 2024, lime-green sleeve and all, winning three Grammy Awards including Best Dance/Electronic Album. She has since written the soundtrack to Emerald Fennell's film of Wuthering Heights and changed course again with Music, Fashion, Film.
