The Next Day Extra EP is a companion to The Next Day, the album with which David Bowie returned in 2013 after ten years. The EP gathers songs that were left unfinished during the album sessions and completed only later, such as 'Atomica', 'The Informer', 'Like a Rocket Man' and 'Born in a UFO', alongside the Japanese bonus track and two remixes. Among those remixes is an edit of 'Love Is Lost' by LCD Soundsystem's James Murphy running over ten minutes, and the 'Venetian Mix' of 'I'd Rather Be High'. The material shows what else took shape in recordings around the comeback album.
