Prince recorded Welcome 2 America at Paisley Park in the spring of 2010, then set the album aside without explanation. His estate finally released it in July 2021. It is openly political work: over tight funk backing, the title track talks through disinformation, social media and racism. Morris Hayes co-produced, with Tal Wilkenfeld on bass and Chris Coleman on drums, and singers Shelby J, Liv Warfield and Elisa Fiorillo fill out the backing vocals. Alongside 'Born 2 Die' and 'Running Game (Son Of A Slave Master)' there are lighter pieces such as 'Hot Summer' and '1000 Light Years From Here'.
This edition is the Deluxe Edition box: 2-LP on black vinyl plus CD and Blu-ray, with a book, poster and memorabilia.
