This is not a country album but a classical one, with Johnny Cash as narrator. André Kostelanetz and his orchestra play Ferde Grofé's Grand Canyon Suite, in the movements Sunrise, Painted Desert, On the Trail, Sunset, and Cloudburst, with sounds recorded in the canyon itself woven in. Cash closes with a thirteen-minute spoken commentary describing a day spent at the Grand Canyon. The album first appeared in 1961 on Columbia and remains an outlier in his discography. This edition is an LP.
