On Give the People What They Want, Ray Davies goes for hard guitars and cynical lyrics about sensationalism, television and audiences that want to see blood. The studio album, originally from 1981, belongs to The Kinks' most successful American period and holds Destroyer, which reuses the riff of All Day and All of the Night and brings back the character Lola, plus Around the Dial and the strikingly gentle closer Better Things. For this reissue the album was newly remastered in 2026 from the original production sources. This edition is an LP.
