Private Dancer was originally released in 1984 as Tina Turner's fifth solo album and marked her major comeback after years of setbacks. The album included the single "What's Love Got to Do with It", which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The title track "Private Dancer", written by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, and "Better Be Good to Me" also became hits. The album combined rock, pop and soul, and put Turner's powerful voice back in the spotlight after her years with Ike Turner. Private Dancer sold millions of copies worldwide and earned Turner several Grammy Awards in 1985, including Record of the Year for "What's Love Got to Do with It".

This edition is a 2-CD from the 40th anniversary edition, with b-sides and extended versions on the second disc.
