Private Dancer was originally released in 1984 as Tina Turner's fifth solo album and marked her major comeback after years of setbacks. The album included the single "What's Love Got to Do with It", which reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The title track "Private Dancer", written by Mark Knopfler of Dire Straits, and "Better Be Good to Me" also became hits. The album combined rock, pop and soul, bringing Turner's powerful voice back into the spotlight after her years with Ike Turner. Private Dancer sold millions of copies worldwide. The album earned Turner several Grammy Awards in 1985, including Record of the Year for "What's Love Got to Do with It".
