Script for a Jester's Tear is the debut album by Marillion and was originally released in 1983. The album became a figurehead of neo-progressive rock, a revival of the symphonic rock style of the early 1970s at the start of the 1980s. Singer Fish delivered the lyrics with theatrical delivery and poetic style. The album consists of six lengthy songs. The title track deals with a failed relationship, while Forgotten Sons addresses the unrest in Northern Ireland. The singles Garden Party and He Knows You Know brought the album to a wider audience.
