Sorcerer was the third album by the second great quintet of Miles Davis, made in 1967 with Wayne Shorter on tenor saxophone, Herbie Hancock on piano, Ron Carter on bass and Tony Williams on drums. Shorter wrote most of the material, and his pieces "Prince of Darkness", "Masqualero" and "Vonetta" give the album its shadowy, harmonically floating character. Davis plays sparingly and leaves plenty of room to Hancock and Williams. It closes with "Nothing Like You", a piece recorded four years earlier with a vocal by Bob Dorough that sits completely apart from the rest. The sessions took place in May 1967 at the 30th Street Studio in New York and the album originally appeared on Columbia. This edition is an LP on translucent green vinyl, pressed on 180 gram in an edition of 2,500 copies.
