Necrophobic

Necrophobic formed in Stockholm in 1989, started by drummer Joakim Sterner and guitarist David Parland and named after a Slayer song. The debut The Nocturnal Silence (1993) already laid out the template: death metal underneath, with the tremolo melodies and cold edge of Swedish black metal on top. Darkside (1997), The Third Antichrist (1999) and Bloodhymns (2002) built on that formula, and Hrimthursum (2006) and Death to All (2009) followed on Regain Records. The lyrics deal with anti-Christian themes and Norse mythology. Sterner is the one member who has been there from the start; singer Anders Strokirk, who sang on the debut, returned in 2014, and with guitarists Sebastian Ramstedt and Johan Bergebäck back in the band the tenth studio album In the Twilight Grey followed in 2024.

This collection brings together Necrophobic on vinyl, LP and CD: reissues of the early albums, the Spawned by Evil EP and the Satanic Blasphemies compilation of the band's earliest material.
