Pearl Jam is the band's self-titled eighth studio album, which originally came out in 2006 as their first on the J Records label. The album marks a return to a more direct and raw rock sound. World Wide Suicide, a response to the Iraq war, reached number 1 on the US Modern Rock chart. Other songs include Life Wasted and Gone. Thematically the album reflects political discontent during the Bush years.
