Californication was the album that brought John Frusciante back into Red Hot Chili Peppers, after he left in 1992 and spent years struggling with heroin addiction. The seventh studio album originally dates from 1999 and was produced by Rick Rubin. The funk largely gave way to drawn-out guitar melodies and lyrics about Los Angeles, drugs and loss, heard on 'Scar Tissue', 'Otherside', 'Around the World', 'Parallel Universe' and the title track. With more than fifteen million copies sold worldwide it is commercially the band's most successful album. This edition is a 2-LP on black vinyl.
