Scorpions

Scorpions come from Hanover and are Germany's most successful rock export. Guitarist Rudolf Schenker founded the band in 1965; with singer Klaus Meine and guitarist Uli Jon Roth, their 1970s work still sounded raw and partly psychedelic, on albums such as Fly to the Rainbow, Virgin Killer and the live double album Tokyo Tapes. From Lovedrive (1979) onward, with Matthias Jabs as the new guitarist, the band moved towards arena hard rock: Blackout and Love at First Sting delivered Rock You Like a Hurricane and Still Loving You, and Wind of Change from Crazy World (1990) became associated worldwide with the end of the Cold War. Rock Believer arrived in 2022 as their nineteenth studio album, and in 2025 the band marked sixty years with a hometown concert in Hanover.
