Amazing Grace: Complete Recordings places both evenings Aretha Franklin recorded at the New Temple Missionary Baptist Church in Los Angeles in January 1972 back to back, in the order they happened. Alongside the material from the original album it holds the spoken introductions by Reverend James Cleveland, the second readings of Wholy Holy, Climbing Higher Mountains and Old Landmark among others, and the instrumental My Sweet Lord. The Southern California Community Choir sings on both nights. What comes across is that the sessions were church services, with prayer, a congregation and songs that come round twice.
