Sounds of the Universe, originally from 2009, is Depeche Mode's twelfth studio album and the third produced by Ben Hillier. In the run-up Martin Gore assembled a stack of old analogue synthesizers and drum machines, and that gear defines the sound: creaking oscillators and thick, slightly detuned tones instead of clean digital production. Lead single Wrong is the harshest track here, with a pounding beat and a catalogue of everything going wrong. Set against it are quieter pieces such as Peace, Little Soul, and the closing Corrupt. This edition is a 2LP.
