Five days before the American release of Are You Experienced, The Jimi Hendrix Experience played the Hollywood Bowl on 18 August 1967, opening for The Mamas & The Papas. To most of the crowd of more than seventeen thousand, the trio, with Noel Redding on bass and Mitch Mitchell on drums, was still an unfamiliar name. The set opens with a version of Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band and runs through Killing Floor, The Wind Cries Mary, Foxey Lady and Purple Haze to a closing Wild Thing. The recording sat in the archive for more than half a century and came out as a live album for the first time in 2023. This edition is an LP.
