For 'Confusion', New Order travelled to New York in 1983 to work with Arthur Baker, the producer behind Afrika Bambaataa's 'Planet Rock'. The result moved even further towards the electro and hip-hop of the New York clubs than 'Blue Monday' had earlier that year: hard drum machines, scratches and a bass loop carrying the track. Alongside the main version, the 12-inch holds 'Confused Beats', an instrumental version and a rough mix. Parts of the video were shot at the Funhouse, the club where the band worked with Baker at the time. This edition is a 12-inch single.
