Zeit originally appeared in 1972 as a double album subtitled Largo in Four Movements. Rhythm is almost entirely absent: the four movements consist of slowly shifting layers of organ and synthesizer, with a quartet of cellists in the opening and Florian Fricke of Popol Vuh on the Moog. It is the darkest and most static work from the early years of Edgar Froese, Christopher Franke and Peter Baumann, and it is often named as a forerunner of ambient and dark ambient.
This edition is a 2-LP on translucent blue and clear vinyl, a remastered and limited pressing.
