After the raw Insomniac, Nimrod found Green Day widening their range: surf rock, ska, an instrumental and, most surprisingly, the acoustic ballad "Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)", which went on to become a graduation-ceremony standard. The fifth studio album first appeared in 1997 and was recorded at Conway Studios in Los Angeles, again with producer Rob Cavallo. "Hitchin' A Ride" and "Redundant" were also released as singles. With eighteen tracks in just over fifty minutes, it was the longest and most varied album the band had made to that point.

This edition is a limited 5-LP anniversary box set on silver vinyl, with demos and a full live show from 1997.
